Crack Stitch Repairs
Crack Stitch Repairs can be carried out to fix cracks in a wall. First remove mortar from the bed joint, to a depth of between one and two inches, raking it out with a power tool or by hand. Clean out the dust and debris from the groove. Check your Crack Stitching Bar fits into the slot okay then remove it.
Apply a generous bead of the grout supplied with your Crack Stitching Kit to the back of the groove. Push the bar into the compound and then add another bead of cement and smooth off. Leave the cement to dry. Repoint your brickwork with mortar to match existing.
Crack Stitch Repairs use stainless steel Helical Bars and a specially formulated cement to fix the bar into the mortar bed joint. Crack Stitching Kits are available from Helifix, Twistfix and Thor Helical. A video of the installation process is available on www.crackstitchrepair.com.
